The law that entropy always increases — the second law of thermodynamics — holds I think, the supreme position among the laws of Nature. If someone points out to you that your pet theory of the universe is in disagreement with Maxwell’s equations – then so much worse for Maxwell equations. If it is found to be contradicted by observation – well these experimentalists do bungle things sometimes. But if your theory is found to be against the second law of Thermodynamics, I can give you no hope; there is nothing for it but to collapse in deepest humiliation.
Sir Arthur Stanley Eddington, in The Nature of the Physical World. Maxmillan, New York, 1948, p. 74.
Only entropy comes easy.

Way to go! Tonight, doing some “maintenance” on Haloscan (my commenting host), I noticed that there have been over 300 comments posted. Woohoo! Can we say… 400? I also noticed that I can “edit” comments. LOL… I feel so powerful. Good thing I don’t find power too appealing, eh?
Ooh… Iz… FYI… I did all the “updating” necessary. But I still need to change this URL. Any suggestions? Or do you want to just jump ship to my other site?

brrr… someone ordered cold weather. Sheesh… it’s like…. 50 outside. But, fearless explorers that we are, Iz and I are not letting this cold freeze deter us from sloshing through yummy pina coladas. Just because it’s sub-Arctic out there doesn’t mean you can’t have the tropics in your heart! Although, I’m pretty sure that Captain Cook got to drink his out of coconut shells and didn’t have to use a cheap straw from the dollar store. Heh! (We may need to crank up the heater, tho!)

Well… the masses have spoken. It’s a big “NAY” on Natchez, Mississippi. (They sound like sick horses… nay nay nay). The good news for them, the house that I want is off the market and would have been by the time I was ready to head South. (mmm south, that sounds so nice) But, since I rarely do what is expected of me,(unless of course, that is what is expected then I’m the most compliant person you know), and since I don’t have pack mentality, (those horses just want me to find a place at the beach so they can come graze at the water.) I will not be deterred in my search. On to better and more Southern locals. Heh… they are gonna wish they had “Yayed” Natchez!

how could I not post this? It features my favorite word… entropy.
“There are so many people working on solving small problems. I figure if we all worked together to solve a big one, the little ones would just fall into place.”
“And I still think it’s ridiculous.”
“I’m not talking about defeating entropy, I’m talking about making it our bitch.”

hmmm… monday.
The beach was perfect today. A much needed rest. It’s funny… I usually bring a book to read, but lately I’ve been so tired that all I do is zone for a few hours. Feels good to do nothing. Especially in such an amazing environment. Unfortunately, it will be some time before I get back to the beach for my morning ritual. I begin a full week of covering the bookstore tomorrow morning during what is turning out to be our first big heat wave here in Marin. S i g h. I think I do need a vacation.
On the up side… I finished some difficult stuff today. Glad to have it finally behind me. Whew! And I found this great little cafe in Ross that makes amazing Mochas (and yummy scones). Woohoo!
I’m going back to sitting in front of the fan now, with my book.

It’s been a melancholy sort of weekend. I think tomorrow I will head to the beach… A much needed respite. I’m drained.

Found my dream home. Of course, I’m now moving to Natchez, Mississippi. Heh! See for yourself!

OUCH. It was a stupid reflex–painfully so! I reached for a cookie sheet that was falling. A HOT cookie sheet. Fun…
On a brighter note: I took scissors to my Hebrew T-Shirt. Dorkie sleeves, too long… disfiguring collar (I’m not exaggerating here…well, much). It looks … shabbier… but in its disfigurement, far superior than its former form. (Sorry, couldn’t resist the bad word play.)
Ooh… and my grades are slowly trickling in. My dance instructor called my paper, “beautiful”. You have to love that!
