New hair color—sans makeup. I may or may not have photo-touched the little wrinkles around my eyes. (Sheesh, I’m vain. But if God didn’t want you to use photoshop. . . )
My  stylist moved away last year. . . back home to Bend in February. And I’ve been in a dither ever since. But then, because the Universe knew I needed good news, she emailed me in December to say they were moving back to town and if I didn’t have a new stylist, she was available.
Somehow, I’ve only had 2 haircuts since she left. The first was a disastrous thing in June, and the second in October after growing out June’s horror!  Since then, I’ve been obsessing over my split ends via the back-light on my computer. . . gradually picking myself bald  and wondering what I was going to do about getting a haircut. There are minor miracles in life. Your fabulous stylist moving back to town in just the nick of time is one of them!
So, today she came over to our house in progress and cut my hair. And what a relief. Because she knows this crazy mop and all the fakery you have to do make it behave. She cuts, I style, and it works for us.
But then I went to the store. With a half hour to kill after dropping off the boy’s broken glasses to the optics department I browsed the baby department (SCORE! Super cute frog onesie for my nephew! He’s turning 1 month old in 4 days, that’s totally a reason to send him a present) and then stumbled into the haircolor aisle. I wasn’t drunk, and I know the name of the usual shade, but I bought a completely different color anyhow. Wreckless.
Dark Brown. Espresso, I think. Other than that, I don’t know what to think.
Figures. I own stock in buyer’s remorse. I feel badly about that too.
IZ gives it thumbs up. . . Â but that boy has learned to lie to me when I’m craving chocolate and when I’ve just colored my hair. (No, you don’t look fat, have another brownie and Wow, love the color.) I wouldn’t trust him. He’s a fibber.
You can lie to me too, if you want. Or not.
Update: I’m looking at the color and liking it more. But those brows need an intervention. Or a good brow pencil. Recommendations?
That’s really pretty–I love it! I imagined dark, dark brown and this is more chocolate brown. Mocha!!
Margaret, I think it’s darker in person? It’s just two steps from being black. . . I wonder if it’s the light in the bathroom? Either way, it’s a HUGE change for me.
I think it looks lush. And it only looks so dark because you are used to the lighter color. Love it.
You’re probably right. I’m trying to embrace change. . .
I love the hair color! Rich and mysterious!
Brows are everything. It’s the one thing I do every day without fail. I use a black brown pencil and brown powder from Bare Mineral, then I take a cotton swab and blend so it’s not too harsh. Don’t go too dark, but filling them in, really does make you look a bit younger {and I take every bit I can}. 😉
Thanks so much for the tip, Kerri!! My brows have always been plentiful. . . but they are thinning at the edges. Time to up my game.
I love that hair color too! Nice!
I’m a blonde and because of my ‘age’ it looks like I have few eyebrow hairs left. Once day when I was in Sephora, they were giving free eye-brow demos with a special kit at a reduced price. It has the cake-type brow powder with the tiny angle brush. This works much better on my brows than pencils and looks much more natural. (The pencils irritate my sensitive skin and cause blemishes! Yuck!) Here is a link to a similar kit, although probably most of the brands of this type would work similarly. http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P65404&categoryId=B70#
Thanks, Nancy! That’s quite a kit. Probably way out of my league. . . but the brush tip is awesome. Brushes make all the difference, don’t they?
Yes, I think it is way overpriced! I didn’t pay that much for mine at the time. I never used the stencils either. I did like the brow wax and the brow powder. You can get that as a set much much cheaper somewhere else in a different brand. The angled brush does really help too.
I think the above descriptor “lush” fits! It has body, shine, depth and richness. Additionally, it is very complimentary. I think your brows like just great, but if you would like a very indulgent professional shaping treatment I highly recommend Ricki at Malama Day Spa. She is a doll and a brilliant artiste. It isn’t terribly expensive and is a wonderful treat (if you can find an excuse to treat yourself–and I will be disapointed if you can’t!teeheehee)
Oh, Jenny. . . you’re a rock-star. I’ve let my brows go. . . sometimes you need to get things shaped out again, eh? So, it’s awesome to have a local reference. I’ll let them know you recommended them.
I give it TWO thumbs up! So lovely! So beautiful – stunning! I *LOVE* the color and your eyes POP!
This is because I said “more sex” for my New Year’s Resolution, right?
