Tuberose in my room. Shopping at Gelson’s. Sliced Key Lime in my water. Full length body pillows. Spa jets. Pomegranate Mojitos. The Pacific at dusk.
Our vacation was one of the best we’ve ever taken. No one got sick, the weather was ideal, and with exception to the train-ride home, it was entirely event free. Along the way, we experienced some new things that have me thinking about the little luxuries in life. It’s those small things, right?, that make life pleasurable.
So, I thought I’d ask you. . . what are your little luxuries? What makes your world spin right?
HBB being home on the weekend.
Fresh paint on the walls.
Coffee on the patio of my favorite coffee shop in New Mexico in the morning. (Okay, that’s a pretty big one but I love it.)
A book, a blanket, a cup of tea and no scheduling conflicts.
A vase full of pink tulips on the kitchen counter in the spring.
Driving with the windows open and the music blaring.

This is a fabulous list! Fresh paint… yum. S i g h. I need to get to our upstairs. ~W
Burt’s Bees chapstick. That would be my one Survivor island luxury (do they even let the contestants have one luxury item anymore?).

Ah… I could have written this list. Except… PUMPKIN MADELINES?? oh my. I’ve never had those, but I’m certain I’d love them! ~W
A good book and a wide-open afternoon.
A secret, secluded garden full of flowers, fragrance, birds and butterflies. And bunnies. Though not in the veggies.
Fabric, ideas, and a wide-open afternoon.
A dinner with good food, great friends and lively conversation.
And especially this season: a warm patch of sunshine to curl up in… and a wide-open afternoon.

I’m sensing a trend here! We had dinner with good friends this Monday–they came over and cooked for us! It was FABULOUS. 😀 ~W
~Angela 🙂
A good book, a wonderful visit with a friend, a great chat with my kid(s), etc…My life is definitely made up of small moments and not big things. (thankfully!)

I suspect more of our lives are made up of small moments, for the most part. Big moments do come along, but I couldn’t handle them every day! ~W
A book that takes me to another time and place. Hanging out by the lake for hours with nothing but my thoughts – and my camera. 🙂

A camera is a luxury, eh? 😀 ~W
A weekend where I have nothing to do and nowhere to go is the biggest luxury for me.

Amen! I can totally see that. ~W
You are going to laugh, but I buy Dunkin’ Donuts coffee to have at home. I pink puffy heart DD (notsomuch Starbucks) and it’s a splurge to keep it in the house with our always tight budget and the husband wasting it by using too many grounds (he’s nonfunctional pre-coffee), but I have to have decent coffee in the morning.

Oh no, I’m not laughing at all. Dunkin’ Donuts’ coffee is actually good. ( I won’t drink that swill called Starbucks). In fact, DD saved my bacon more times than I can count when BW was a baby. We lived in State College at the time and there was an all night drive through. I miss it. 😀
Oh… and did your girls get the postcard I sent? I have a bad feeling it may not have reached you. ~W
It did – but much after your cryptic comment on my blog (for which I might have thought you lost it ;D)
I guess you missed my status update on FB – I’d meant to email but have been slammed with grading. (Which is no excuse). Thank you so much for doing that. The girls were thrilled, especially since it took me a few days to figure out who sent it (I recognized the handwriting but couldn’t place it, forgot where you were in CA, and didn’t review my comments for a couple days when I remembered your “odd” comment and laughed hysterically). That was so very awesome of you to do.

Oh, I totally missed the FB thing. 😀 I pains me it took so long to get to you. I mailed that (or dropped it off with the hotel!) on the first of October. Maybe even the day before, come to think of it. I had a feeling that they didn’t even send it, so at least it made it to them. I hope you didn’t tell the girls it really wasn’t Princess Aurora. 😀
Just catching up and finding that you had a wonderful trip away – how completely perfect! I’m so glad that you got to get away and that everything went so smoothly. You deserve it.
Your post has me thinking… I need to figure out some little luxuries to indulge in. I’ve been lacking in that department recently. I’m taking this as my Sunday Sermon. Thanks.
