We’ve become a bit obsessed with Chai lately. Especially this Chai. Add a little honey, a little cream, and what’s not to love?
It’s keeping us toasty in this constant rain. One of us insists on sipping their warm Chai through a Mickey Mouse straw. Of course, I’ll never tell.
What’s getting you through the winter?
Spending a day with my daughter where she fills up a card on my camera with photos like this of me. Just because she has taught me to laugh at myself. It’s about all I have left that works! 😀 Oh wait. THAT and the promise of New Mexico at the end of the month. Counting down the days. *crosses fingers because I’m not sure I can use linkages or if I’m ever doing it right*

OOh, New Mexico. I’ve never been there, but it’s on my list of places to see. And you did that link perfectly—what a great photo. 😀 ~W
Sunglasses and sandals are getting me through this winter! 😉

Ha ha ha ha… rub it in, darling. 😀 ~W
Ah, winter in Wisconsin. Snow, snow and more snow. Lucky for me, I love it. I’ve lost some weight due to all the shoveling, which I am thankful for because even tho Fluffy is a cute word (according to my youngest), it’s not cute around the belly area. 🙂 The extreme temps, I don’t like, but all in all, winter is my season. My warm drink of choice is Millstone Hazelnut coffee with Coffemate Hazelnut creamer. yummy and creamy. But that’s all year long, unless it’s too hot in the summer. That blasted humidity here gets me. ewwww.

OOh, see… I can’t do hazelnut any more. I drank way too much of it in the early 90’s. And good for you for losing weight. Shoveling snow is a work-out!! ~W
Mocha . . . always mocha. 🙂 Again, though, that’s a year-round constant for me. I guess I’d have to say that my fireplace is really what’s getting me through winter — warm, toasty fires!

Oh yes… that’s how I start my morning. Then we switch to tea and chai. The fireplace is calling me today. It’s wet and windy and foreboding out there. ~W
Ooo, I’ve never heard of this brand of chai. I’ll have to see if anyone carries it locally here.
I’ve been alternating between hot chocolate and green tea lately (I know, schizo.) That & hot baths!

Ooh, hot chocolate. I love the stuff. Unfortunately, I can’t afford to drink it every day the way I make it—both in calories and in the price of chocolate. OUCH. And, can I just say, I adore your etsy store!! ~W
I absolutely adore chai!! My mother makes her own home made every day…sometimes I just stop by to see if there’s any on the back burner…it’s delicious!
We have such mild winters here usually, it’s not too bad…I swear habit is the only thing that gets me through sometimes…that and hope for a better tomorrow…yes, the eternal optimist roams my inner corridors. Rich calls me Polly every once in a while after Pollyanna…then again, he calls me trouble too…I’ve got those 2 sides…

Heh, lately I’ve been embracing my inner curmudgeon. Ha! And homemade chai is the BEST. I’m also lazy, so Harney and Son’s does the trick for now. 😀 ~W
Lady Grey Twinings and the anticipation of a 9-day, Southern-Caribbean cruise! We leave in 2 weeks! Eeeeee! Thanks for asking 🙂

OH! No fair. Have fun. Lucky you. I will now go grumble over here about being grounded in the RAIN. grumble. ~W
Hot coffee one day iced diet coke the next. One day we are freezing the next we are roasting, the weather here is constantly changing. Then it will get hot and then hotter, so welcome to Mexico.
Mom

Um, diet coke. LOVE IT. And seriously, this suspiciously sounds like you’re complaining about the heat… and that’s not allowed. EVER. I don’t care if it gets to be a crazy 120. That’s balmy and lovely and wonderful, and I won’t hear anything differently. Heh. ~W
The other day I told Mark I didn’t like chai tea, and then admitted I’d never actually HAD chai tea. I explained that I didn’t know what it was, but there was something weird about people who drink chai… so reading this had me rolling! Y’all are the weirdos I speak of! 😀
Right now I’m surviving by drinking lots of water and spending way too much time pricing (and by “pricing” I mean “fantasizing about”) wonderful tropical vacations to bungalows in the middle of the ocean… 🙂

I don’t know sweetie, “bungalows in the middle of the ocean” might be a bit “wet” for a vacation. *snort*. I’ll send you some of this tea so you can decide. Try it. You might light it! ~W
I like getting the sweet chai blend from World Merchants in Seattle (it’s across the street from the Market). You brew it for 5 minutes, then add your black tea and brew for another 1-3. Last time, I made it with a smokey lapsang black blend, and it was really interesting, smokey-sweet! (with milk and sugar, too, of course)

I will have to pick some up next time I’m in Seattle!! ~W
Both of my girls love Chai–and Alison is back to drinking it, after a couple of months of abstinence. (you know why…) She claims that it tastes like Christmas. I find it too sweet.

Yeah, I would agree with you about chai being too sweet… which is why we make it at home. We can control how much sweetener we use. The stuff sold pre-made or at coffee houses can be THICK! ~W
Marie – don’t hate on chai until you try. It can actually be quite tasty. I was a doubter – but the right blend with a touch of honey is quite nice.

LOL… you realize that she called us “weird.” Of course, she’s dating my brother, so what does that say about her? Hmm… 😀 ~W
I don’t think it’s you that likes the straw since I see your little lipstick marks 🙂 mmmm, mmmm, mmmm, I loves me some Chai!
What’s getting me through the winter? My new best pal – an electric kettle! Why did I go so long without? Instant hot tea! Instant hot cup of soup! Instant hot chocolate! So long to the boiled dry teapot! Check ya later microwave. There’s a new appliance in town and it gets to take up permanent residence on the kitchen counter!
_______________________________________________
Ah yes, the electric tea-kettle. We had one where I used to work, and it was great! But, you know, we lose our power so much around here… I can’t afford to get rid of my other kettle completely, as it’s the only way for hot water when the power goes out. ~W
Ah, we’ve taken on Chai for Lent! That works. Me? I’d skip all the bother and go straight for my brother-in-laws most beautiful honey- the color and aroma and taste…Okay then! That answers the question of first thing on the day’s food tracking chart. Where’s that honey? (Enjoy your chai)

Drinking chai for Lent would certainly be a fun discipline. Alas, I went a different direction. And I have a feeling that winter is going to last long past Lent this year. ~W
Touche, Wende, touche 😀
