Thank you all for your lovely comments regarding our Sophie—I’m still working on getting to them all. As of this morning, she’s doing great on the medication. She seems to be tolerating it well, just a bit sleepier than usual. Which, isn’t saying something since she sleeps all day anyhow! However, she feels well enough to run and hide when she sees me coming with eye drops, so it can’t be that bad!
She will be on the meds for 2 weeks. The hope is the medication will clear her infection and we’ll then be able to make a decision about our next step. Apparently, her eyes are losing mass and that creates space for infection to set in. There is surgery that can help with the condition, but it’s too soon to be making decisions about that. I think everyone involved would feel better about making a decision if we understood the underlying condition causing all this havoc. At the moment, we’re in the dark so we will just have to wait and see.
Again, I do appreciate all the well wishes and prayers. We’re taking it day-by-day. If anything changes I’ll be sure to update you! In the meantime, there is something to be said for living in the moment. I hope you all can find a way to do that today!
oh I’ve been thinking of poor little sophie and wishing her nothing but good thoughts. I’, glad to hear she is doing a bit better… and I agree it’s important to find the underlying condition. Having my Dakota have two knee surgeries and being on medication and not feeling well, I can completely relate to your concern for your sweet family member! They really are like children 🙂

Heh… she’s certainly spoiled like my child! Not to be “dire” but we’ve known that it’s possible that Soph won’t have a long life span. The issues she has will likely shorten that. However, I wasn’t ready for it the complications to arise so quickly! And certainly, they weren’t complications we figured would happen… it’s all a bit too soon and too much. ~W
I’m so glad to read that Sophie’s improving; more energy for avoiding your loving ministrations is certainly a good sign. Wishing her continued improvement, and you some information about what’s causing the problem.

Thanks Kimberly! I appreciate it. I’m looking forward to meeting you on Friday. 😀 ~W
Glad to know she’s feeling better. Poor thing. I have never heard of such a condition but it does not sound pleasant at all! Hang in !

Thank you! And, I know… ewww. I’ve never heard of such a thing either. It’s really sad, poor baby, because with her eyes so messed up she looks like she’s 15 years old. She might be feeling it, too…~W
We open ourselves up to love, and it also opens the door wide to WORRY, and uncertainty. But such is life, right? If she feels well enough to run and hide from you, I am less concerned than I was before. Live in the moment indeed. I need to make that my mantra, eh?

I’m certainly trying to make it my mantra this week! ~W

Kalurah! That was awfully sweet of you. I don’t know how nice I am, but I’m certainly touched by the gesture! Thanks for letting me know… I’m behind in all my blog reading. ~W
Oh dear…I’m a bit late to the doggie sickness. Poor sweet little thing…I hate it when they see you and run! It is a horrible price to pay for love and helping them feel better…she’ll be in my thoughts! I too, adore her sweet little face…

Oh, no! I’m so sorry to hear that Feli. ~W
Sophie has so many fans and well-wishers! I hope you hear something definite soon about an improvement in the condition and what your next steps should be. Give her a kiss for me, and tell her that April and Rosie send their love.

Will do! 😀 ~W
Last year Jerry started chewing his legs from nervousness before the move, and he was a right mess. I found the spray from the vet that we used to make him stop biting himself. If you’d like to try it let me know, ok? Maybe it’s an untapped resource?!
I’m glad to hear she’s feeling better. I love Miss Sophie!

Oh dear, someone should have made you leave that laptop at HOME! Happy trails… see you on Friday. 😀 ~W
Poor little Sophie 🙁 I hope that the vet can determine the problem and heal her. We had a Scottish Terrier, Abby, that suffered from horrible skin and ear problems. We took her to so many vets and tried so many treatments with nothing ever really solving the problem. Finally, we found the right vet, who with one examination was able to diagnose and give proper treatment, so that she was finally able to get some long over due relief. She became like a little puppy again. I hope that someone can do the same for Sophie.

Thanks, Michele. It’s always hard to see a pet suffer. We’re hoping for good news, but bracing ourselves just the same. You know how it is. I hope you’ve had a great summer!! 😀 ~W
aww, poor pup! give her a big hug for me! I hope the vets can figure out what’s going on and can give her some relief.

She has her good days and her not so good days. Yesterday was hard, today is better. It’s a wait and see thing. ~W
I haven’t been around in so long, I’ve missed a ton! I’m glad to hear that Sophie is doing fine, now. I like reading the sad then immediately hearing the good! 🙂 I don’t like to have to WAIT for the update.

She’s ok, but we’re not out of the woods yet. Her fever is gone and that’s a good thing. And I was wondering where you went. Missed you, glad you’re back! ~W
Oh your poor Sophie! Keeping good thoughts for you all.
