I didn’t mean for it to happen. Ok, well, I did a little. However, despite my intentions there seems to be some form of Kismet in play. Sometimes the Universe steps in an unites souls that were destined for each other. And when it does, who should question such serendipity?
I never thought I’d fall in love so quickly, especially without ever having met…but you know, the Internet is weird like that. And you can just tell. Can’t you? When a good soul is staring back at you, no matter the distance?
And can’t you just tell when it was meant to be? Then, when you think it might not happen, the Universe steps in again and paves a road so silken you can’t help but remove your shoes and run barefoot–soaking up all the glorious details into your soles.
If I’d hadn’t emailed when I did. But I did.
If I hadn’t looked when I did. Yet I did.
Stolen. My heart is. Not my own, but was it ever?
This is Sophie. And she will be joining our family in October. I’m already completely enamored–and it’s only been a day.
What magic spell did you weave that would make me agree? Like the slow drip-drip of patient rain working to erode the rock you finally broke through. I think the pic is what sold me. Is Sophie real or did we just buy a stuffed animal… you tell me…
Indeed even I’m excited… excited for you and Boo that you’ll have someone to love and to love on, to walk, to play with, and keep you company when you are feeling blue.
Welcome Sophie!
She is perfect, isn’t she! I get chills just thinking about her. When I saw her photo I just had this feeling that she was meant for us. Now we wait. Kinda like a shorten gestation. 🙂
you’re getting a dog? no, wait. you – cat person that you are – are getting a dog? and a hyper one? that’s like me getting a dog. what is the world coming to?
Yes, we are! However, Welsh Terriers are hardly hyper. Lots of “go” energy–but they good family dogs and much, much calmer than other Terriers.
Yeah, people assume I’m not a dog person–hardly the fact. What I’m opposed to is poorly bred and poorly trained dogs. And Sophie is neither. In fact, it’s not really dogs I dislike, as much as dog owners who aren’t responsible. I’ve not had a dog in years because we didn’t have the space for one… (IZ being opposed to those purse sized pups). Dogs left alone in tiny spaces make for very unhappy souls–and I could never do it to a dog. So, now that we have room and space, well–enter Sophie. Besides, despite my love affair, she is being adopted for Boy Wonder’s benefit. He needs a companion. 🙂
WENDEWENDEWENDEWENDEWENDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! O. M. G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please let me come over and smell her puppy breath and pet her puppy belly AND now you MUST come for walkies with us!!!!!
Ok, hold the phone there Carrie. She’s three, not a puppie. The wait list for Welsh Terriers is so long (there are only 50 or so registered each month with the AKC as opposed to the Miniature Schnauzer which has 3000+ registrations each month) that it’s almost impossible to get a puppy w/o knowing the breeder.
Sophie is three, she is from a top breeder who retire their dogs early. They pick the best of the last litter and that dog becomes the new breeding dog–so Sophie was the best of her litter! She’s darling. And we got lucky, they had just listed her and since we emailed have had several offers. We can’t wait–they are keeping her until we come home from our holiday so that she doesn’t have to be kenneled while we are gone! That would be so cruel so early in her transition here.
Assuming she is leash trained we will definitely go walking with you. And if she isn’t now, she will be! 🙂
Very cute, but a lot of work. (a stuffed animal would be easier, but not as loving) I have put my foot down every time our younger child suggests getting another dog. I remember who cleaned up the poop, and it wasn’t her! You will have to share lots of doggie stories.
Congratulations on the new addition to your happy family! She’s very very beautiful! I’m jealous. Para won’t let us get a puppy. (well, another one… we had a tragedy at christmas:() But I’m working on it.
Margaret–Boy Wonder refuses to carry around a stuffed animal… we tried! 🙂
Pie: Hey there newlywed. Well, you could always try the “I want another baby” gambit–a dog seems so low risk after that! Ha! I’m sorry about your tragedy–perhaps times is what you need. 🙂
Good grief Wende! Suggesting the ‘another baby’ would prolly get me into divorce court. Considering I’ve been married not even two weeks, tis prolly not something i want persue just yet. Or ever. Don’t ya think three is enough? yanno, i’m only human! 😉 hehehe, as for the addition of the other kind, just give me time.. a woman has her ways, yanno?
I can see how it was love at first sight. I am envious of you and boy wonder. I thought HE would never submit what did you have to do drug him or just send Sopie’s picture daily. Congrats.
Mom
How lucky for you! I’m impressed with the ethics of the breeder – Sophie’s sure to be a great dog.
